In Jordan: Airports as gateways to a magnificent country

"Letališča v Jordaniji: Vrata v čudovito deželo"

While it’s drizzling outside, let’s discuss the airports in the amazing country of Jordan. There are only two international airports — Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and King Hussein International Airport in the popular resort of Aqaba.

The first airport is the largest in the country, with over 10 million people passing through it annually. Due to this, it is often referred to as the Jordanian “Key Gateway to the World”. Constructed in 1983 near Amman, it is named after King Hussein of Jordan’s wife. The airport building has two terminals – the south and the north terminals. The south terminal handles domestic flights, while the north terminal serves flights from other airlines. The airport itself is quite similar to most others — it has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable flight: a cozy waiting area, restaurants, and small cafés offering dishes from various countries. In the VIP lounge, passengers can enjoy a comfortable rest with a private bathroom, free internet, and a cafeteria. A conference room is also available for important meetings. It can accommodate up to 100 people.

The second-largest airport is Aqaba Airport. Opened in 1972, its first passenger was King Hussein, which is why the airport was named in his honor. Up to a million passengers can pass through this airport every year. It features a massive parking lot, a post office, its own bank, a clinic, and a café. Of course, it also has a modern and convenient VIP lounge. An interesting fact about this airport — it has three other countries within a 20-kilometer radius! These countries are Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Don’t believe me? See for yourself!
